Canterbury 2021 Flood Recovery
Provided engineering project management and design assistance to the Environment Canterbury flood recovery manager from July 2021 to June 2024. Flood damage repairs to 432 sites were completed at a cost of $22 million. Responsibilities included undertaking risk-based flood damage assessment, fit-for-purpose design, procurement, implementation of mitigation solutions, repair coordination and oversight, progress reporting and claims for central government funding. Progress was tracked live on the Flood Recovery Map and reported in regular Progress reports.
(July 2021 to June 2024).
RiverLink Project. Independent representative on procurement evaluation team to select the consortium for the $700 million joint venture. Project goals include increasing the level of flood protection to the Hutt Valley, upgrading transport infrastructure including two new bridges over the Hutt River (Te Awa Kairangi) and revitalising the river front facing parts of Hutt City Centre.

Continue to provide flood risk related technical advice to GWRC.
Role: Otago Climate Resilience Programme Manager. Motivated for and received central government funding ($8.5 million) for four major projects to increase the flood resilience in Otago. Have overseen and coordinated successful completion of three of the four projects with the fourth on track for completion at the end of 2024. (March 2020 to December 2024).

Contour Channel Flood Protection Upgrade
Flood Recovery Manager for Otago Regional Council. Coordinated flood damage repairs for 35 sites across Otago including 27 in the Lower Clutha where the 9th largest flow since 1863, of 3,175 cumecs was recorded in the Clutha River (Mata -Au) at Balclutha. Project value $4.5. (February 2020 to December 2024).
Kopeopeo Canal Remediation Project
Provided engineering contract and project management services to Bay of Plenty Regional Council (BOPRC). Engineer’s Representative on site and Deputy Project Manager. Coordinated civil construction works and contract management according to NZS3910. Managed project budget ($21M) and provided project and financial reports to BOPRC, Ministry for the Environment, Project Advisory and Steering Groups, Community Liaison Group. (June 2016 to December 2019).
Reviewed Contact Energy Flood Management Plan for Otago Regional Council providing comprehensive assessment of suitability of flood management plan and its ability to meet Resource Consent Requirements for hydro dam discharges. (February to October 2018).
Provided flood management training to Otago Regional Council (ORC). Included leading series of flood management training workshops for ORC staff, including preparation of Flood Preparedness report with prioritised actions to increase flood preparedness (March to November 2017).
Coordinated erosion repair to exposed contaminated wood waste. Joint clients - Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Whakatane District Council (April 2017).
Collated and edited report “Ranigitaiki River Technical Background to Edgecumbe April 2017 Flood”. To provide historical and more recent technical background to panel undertaking the Independent Review of April 2017 flooding of Edgecumbe. Co-presented report to Review Panel together with BOPRC staff (August to September 2017).
